Dyslexia Therapy of Pittsburgh Testing and Program Overview

We are a therapy provider dedicated to empowering children that are struggling with dyslexia and related issues in areas of reading, writing, spelling, math, social/emotional issues, coordination, sensory and attentional areas. We provide therapy services, have helped thousands of kids, and have been working with children for the past 20 years. We are a master’s degree-level facility using pediatric occupational therapy, health science, sensory processing science, and bilateral brain activation techniques. We do not employ anyone under a master’s level degree. Your kids deserve the best.

Additionally, we combine medical, educational and research-based techniques to provide your child a drug-free, comprehensive treatment plan. However, if your child is already taking a medication, we can help your child too.

Measurement of Therapy Progress at Dyslexia Therapy of Pittsburgh

After a Plan of Treatment is begun, quantifiable progress is documented. Goals are established and reviewed in progress reports (PR) in both short term and long term goal areas. We think it’s important to regularly look at gains made over time, as confidence building is attained through positive feedback. We are sure to give feedback continuously. Your child and family is supported every step of the way.

Nutritional Support: A Key Component of Your Child’s Plan

Nutritional concerns often go hand in hand with Dyslexia and related disorders. Picky eating, food-resisting behaviors, and resulting nutrient deficiencies often arise. There are specific nutrients that are highly necessary for the brain to work in a balanced and focused manner. Certain other foods, ironically, can actually exacerbate problems. We make sure to instruct families on ways they can ensure their child is getting the food and nutrients that will assist them in brain neurotransmitter production that is beneficial and necessary for success. When Nutritional Support is necessary, we make sure to support both the kids and family, every step of the way.

Sensory Environment Programming and Home Exercises

We are trained and certified to provide Sensory Plans for the children we see. Home programs are another important part of the Comprehensive Treatment Plan. Ideas, activities, screen-time diets, activity plans and skill exercises, as well a Therapeutic Listening activities will be provided on an ongoing basis. Again, supporting your child in all environments, including in therapy sessions, at home, and at school is our priority.
